Macaroni Kid

Welcome to Macaroni Kid!

Proudly covering South Orange, Maplewood, Livingston, West Orange & the surrounding towns

What an amazing week!  We have two things to celebrate this week.  Summit Short Hills Macaroni Kid celebrated its 2 Year Anniversary on May 8th.  What an amazing two years its been!  Thank you to our subscribers, readers and sponsors.  The second thing that we have to celebrate is Mother's Day.

I have to say, I am very lucky to have a wonderful mom. She always, goes out of her way to make sure both of her children (and their spouses and grandchildren) are cared for, loved, and encouraged. I feel extremely lucky to have such a wonderful mother. To my mother-in-law Carol, you are missed!

* We continue to have two contests this week: one for moms to win a $100 gift card to a wonderful spa in Summit and the second is for mom business owners.

* ECO-Me Party. So many of you have been to product parties in past and there is always pressure on you to buy something.  This party will not be like that at all. I will be giving out samples, we will talk about the products a little and the event is going to be catered by a great local caterer - yummy finger foods. The date is going to be Tuesday, May 15 at 7:15pm in Chatham (Adults Only). We have just a few spots left. This is a free event. Email me at andreas@macaroni, if you would like to join us. For MK readers and subscribers, I wanted to share a 50% off code MACME50 that you can use at http://www.eco-me.com/.

The sponsor for this week's newsletter is Jeff Lakes Day Camp. Jeff Lakes Day Camp is a lovely camp located in Stanhope, NJ.  Jeff Lakes offers fishing, boating, kayaking, sailing, swimming (lake and pool), dance, fine arts, drama, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, basketball and volleyball, adventure course, rock climbing walls and team- challenge initiatives, gymnastics, hockey, GaGa, Nature studies, archery, tennis, miniature golf, playgrounds, biking, hiking and a new dining pavilion.  What more could a camper want? I always hear wonderful things about this camp.

Kiss My Acronym- Boycotting Labels

I was recently in a room full of women when the initial introductions and small chat began.  Inevitably I was asked by someone, "What do you do?"

I get the nervous tummy anytime someone even begins the topic because it is then that I need to instantaneously decide if my soap box will put a damper on the evening.  Sometimes the soap box is cumbersome.  Big and bulky and certainly not worthy of a situation.  Other times it fits well.

The truth is that no matter how I answered that ...
